History is important, especially in the world of TV, Film, Music, and Pop Culture. That is why we here at Entertainment Buzz have decided to put together a “History in Entertainment” segment dedicated to bring you all the news and events that happened on this day in history: June 20th

1942 – Brian Wilson was born in Inglewood, CA. Brian was a singer-songwriter, vocal arranger and producer. He is best known for his multiple songs recorded by the Beatles, some of which included “Good Vibrations”, “In my Room” and “God Only Knows”.

1948 – “Toast of the Town” which was hosted by Ed Sullivan premiered on CBS-TV for the first time.

1949 – Lionel Richie was born in Tuskegee, Alabama to Lionel and Alberta Richie. Lionel Richie has achieved massive success in both the film and music world. Richie has many successful singles in which he performed as a solo artist, as well as being the lead singer for The Commodores.

1952 – John Goodman was born in Saint Louis, Missouri. Goodman has went on to star in many films and tv shows, one of his most popular roles was that in “Roseanne”.

1967 – Nicole Kidman was born in Honolulu Hawaii. Nicole is an Australian American actress who was married to actor Tom Cruise until 2001. Nicole Kidman has played a variety of roles since she started acting, some of her most famous roles came in the films, “Eyes Wide Shut” and “Moulin Rouge!”.

1974 – “Chinatown”, directed by Roman Polanski starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway, was released in The United States. “Chinatown” went on to become a major film in the neo-noir genre and is still widely talked about today.

1975 – “Jaws”, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Roy Scheider was released to the world. This film featured a mechanical shark and has become one of the greatest and most popular horror/drama movies and one of Speilbergs most famous projects.

1980 – Musical comedy film “The Blues Brothers”, starring Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi premiered in over 500 theaters. The movie also featured appearances by Aretha Franklin; Cab Calloway; and Ray Charles.
